VCOD news

·          VCOD in the Herald Sun
As you would have read here last week about the shame file, VCOD is pleased to know that the Herald Sun picked it up and published it in the newspaper on Tuesday last week.  If you would like to see the article go to the web at
www.vcod.com.au/whatsnews and click on the shame file and scroll to John Farnham and you will see the article.  VCOD did not in any way alert the Herald Sun about the Shame File however we like to thank who ever did for doing so.

 

·        Umbrella for sale
AAD and VCOD are selling umbrellas, which have hand prints of Deaf Children from Deaf             Schools/Unit throughout Australia.  For example handprints from VCD are on one section of the  umbrella while another section has Claremont handprint.  You can buy these umbrellas at the    VCOD office or any VCOD events.  Cost is $25 for members and $30 for non- members.

  ·        Great Debate April 2003 Sydney Deaf Games

         Two people from Victoria are needed to assist in this Debate.  One female and one 
         male is to be part of the debate which will argue that “Men gossip more than 
         Women.”  If you want to be part of this debate then please contact VCOD to let 
         them know and VCOD will pass you name on to NSWAD who are organising the 
         event.

 Review of Vicdeaf

A review of Vicdeaf is currently taking place so if you would like to make comments about Vicdeaf and make comments about whether the service is working well, you can ask for a Survey feedback sheet from the organisation who is reviewing Vicdeaf.  The organisation name is Deloitte Touche and Tohmatsu and you can contact Zoe on 1800 600 062 TTY/ voice.  There will also be a meeting to explain to people what is happening with the review.  These meetings will be held at the following Saturday 30th November at Moe Masonic Centre 4 High St Moe 1pm to 4pm

  • Christmas Carols at Moonee Ponds

Sunday 15th Dec Carols by Candlelight will be on at Queens Park Moonee Ponds from 7pm. “Singing” on the night will be the Deaf Signing Choir and Interpreters will be available for the duration of the choir.  

  • JPC Annual Xmas Party

The annual Xmas Party is on again this year and the date for this event is on Sunday 8th December.  Mass starts at 11am Lunch at 12 30pm.  There is a cost involved and if you would like more information please go to www.vciod.com.au/whatsnews/events and scroll to December 2002.

  • Melbourne Deaf Club Friday December 6th

    The pub is open on this night from 7pm so drop in and have a drink and catch up with friends.
