Vicdeaf

VCOD Trivia Night

Lucky door prize is a night for up to 4 people at the G staying in the Penthouse Suite, champagne and chocolate on arrival and breakfast in the morning

Friday August 30th is the night for Trivia Night where all the questions will be related to Deafness i.e. people sports building events and much more.  Prizes to be won and get a table of ten now or let VCOD put you on a table.  MC for the night is Simon Andersson and the John Hunt will be writing the questions.  Cost is

Under 15 free,
15 to 17 years old $5
Over 18 and member of VCOD $8
Over 18 and non Member of VCOD $12

Doors open 6 30pm and starts at 7pm.  You can BYO drinks (alcohol too) and snacks and VCOD will provide light food.

Hearing Awareness Week (not to be confused with National Week of Deaf People)

Congratulations to H2H and Anthony Lil on his award as he has received the  Hearing Awareness Week Committee Award in recognition of what I have done for H2H.

HEARING AWARENESS WEEK ~  AUGUST 25th - 31st

From Monday, 26 August to Friday 30 August the Seven Network will be airing captioned midday movies daily.

Hearing Awareness week is run by agencies for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People. The committee is made up of the following organisations: Vicdeaf, Australian Hearing, Deafness Foundation, Better Hearing, VSDC, Office of Hearing Services. The theme this year is "Understanding Hearing Loss".

Melbourne Museum Tour in AUSLAN

Melbourne Museum have a print version of the audioguide for The Italians: Three Centuries of Italian Art exhibition here at Melbourne Museum. Visitors whose hearing is not up to using the audioguides need only ask for the print version at the entry desk on arrival at the exhibition.
We are running one AUSLAN tour of The Italians each month at 2.00pm [NEXT 24 August and 25 September] and also we still run the AUSLAN Tour of Melbourne Museum on the second Sunday of the month at 2.30pm [NEXT 8 September and 13 October]. Any enquiries from your members or staff can be emailed directly to visitorprograms@museum.vic.gov.au

Chisholm is looking for more deaf people to assist on camps

Volunteer (preferable Deaf and signing) and also are unemployed are need by the Auslan Centre for attending course as a Deaf Guest and share their experiences being Deaf as well as attending Auslan Only Camp for our students to join Deaf people in the Deaf Immersion twice a year.  The next camp is in two weeks time so if you are free during the week day contact Melissa Anderson on M.Anderson@chisholm.vic.edu.au If unable to help but would like to be on the mailing list for future volunteering please contact Melissa and your name will go on our mailing list.
